We block partied. We paraded. We played the HECK out of some tabletop games.

And we experienced the best films both in and outdoors, always with fresh organic popcorn in hand.

Some folks underestimate how much fun we have in West Hill, particularly in our vibrant Skyway neighborhood. For those unfortunate folks that might not have paid close attention and missed all the fun, here’s a look back at some of our favorite highlights you can share with ’em.

All Day Game Day at Skyway Library

July 15th, 2017 – Skyway Library

Skyway Outdoor Cinema joined up with tons of local indie game makers & aficionados at Skyway Library for All Day Game Day to play games based on our movie lineup and meet new friends. See all the photos here.

WHCA Summer Quarterly Community Meeting

July 18th, 2017 – Skyway VFW Post #9430

Our summer community meeting was the FIRST EVER to be livestreamed! Watch the archived video if you’d like to learn more about our new fire chief, our subarea planning process (and what that means for a potential coffeeshop in Skyway) and much more.

West Hill Action Mob Party: Cleanin’ Lots

July 29th, 2017 – Penn Center & U.S. Bank Parking Lots

Over a dozen neighbors descended onto blazin’ hot lots and grabbed scrub brushes, litter grabbers and weeding tools and got to work getting both the venues for Skyway’s National Night Out on Tuesday and Skyway Outdoor Cinema on Friday ready for action. Thanks to everyone who showed up and made quick work of it all, and a special thanks to Tha Family MC for keeping everyone hydrated! Check out what we accomplished in this photo album.

Skyway’s National Night Out

August 1st, 2017 – Penn Center Parking Lot (next to KCSO Storefront)

Our 2nd annual community block party was a success! We fed about 200 people, witnessed an impressive 8-person four square battle, kept Sparky The Fire Dog from eating the chocolate chip cookies, sharpened our balloon swordfighting skills, laid down some masterpieces in chalk and connected folks with community groups and resources. Skyway Library INDOOR Cinema

August 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 2017 – Skyway Library

Skyway Outdoor Cinema partnered up with Skyway Library to support Skyway Library INDOOR Cinema. We popped the fresh popcorn, and Skyway Library played the hits: Kubo and the Two Strings, Finding Dory, Zootopia and Lego Batman. Want more SLIC year round? Skyway Parade & Block Party

August 19th, 2017 – Renton Ave S from Skyway Library to Eritrean Tewhado Orthodox Church

We had a fun time watching PNW Drumline for the second day in a row (previous night at Skyway Outdoor Cinema); seeing the Buffalo Soldiers on horseback; cheering drill teams like the Diamonds, Daughters of Royalty and Electronettes; dancing with the Angel of Hope Play Place’s Love Train; experiencing Mexican traditional music region by region with Folklore Mexicano Tonantzin and LOVED hangin’ with you guys at our booth at the block party after! Congrats to organizer Skyway Solutions for a fun event.

Skyway Outdoor Cinema

August 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, 2017 – U.S. Bank Parking Lot

Season 15 (Fifteen!!!) of West Hill Community Association’s extremely popular annual Skyway Outdoor Cinema festival of free family films and fun (and food trucks, and fifty-cent organic popcorn…) was a massive success. While it’s hard to capture all the magic in words, you should REALLY go flip through some of the photos to see Sparky on the loose at Moana, LED fingers lighting the night at E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, a wizard T-Rex and drumline at Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and the most legit Boba Fett you’ve ever seen at Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

West Hill Health and Safety Fair

August 26th, 2017 – King County Fire District 20

This year’s West Hill Health and Safety Fair at King County Fire District 20 was a blast! We had a fantastic time hanging out with everyone and watching kids leave the event more prepared for school and life both with supplies (thanks to Alajawan’s Hands) AND valuable knowledge (thanks to the many community booths lining the perimeter).
