After a long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve reactivated our volunteer program – the West Hill Action Mob (WHAM) – and offered not one, but two ways to make a visible difference in the Skyway-West Hill community during July 2021.
Instead of hosting just one West Hill Action Mob cleanup event for Earth Day, we’re staying active all month. This April, help us make Skyway-West Hill shine: grab a grocery bag, go for a walk around your neighborhood, and fill it up with litter. Will you join us?
WHEW, it’s been a YEAR. We’ve been super busy, and we’re glad to have been able to enjoy all the fun events and fight all the hard battles right alongside you, neighbor. We put together this roundup for you to chronologically lay out just what 2019 looked like for your all-volunteer nonprofit West Hill Community Association (WHCA).
About 20 55-gallon bags full of litter and weeds were removed from Renton Avenue South in the Skyway Business District on Saturday, September 21st, thanks to 11 hard-working neighbors (Mary, Cindy, Tina, Miki, Rodney, Mark, Pat, Jadeyn, Curn, Devin, and Jim).
We celebrated Earth Day weekend in Skyway on Saturday, April 20th with some of the coolest neighbors toting litter grabbers, contractor bags and a croissant or two to pair with free double-shot espressos.
In 2018, your friends at the all-volunteer nonprofit West Hill Community Association had a banner year. From successfully partnering with teens to boost voter registration and turnout to leading community cleanups, neighborhood forums and highly anticipated events like our annual Skyway Outdoor Cinema festival and Halloween party, the year just flew by.
So we paused for just a bit to take a look back at some of the most wonderful, surprising, and memorable moments of last year (in absolutely no particular order). How many do you remember?
The streets of Skyway are much cleaner after our West Hill Action Mob Annual Fall Cleanup thanks to a dozen neighbors who gave up their Saturday morning to tackle litter, drink coffee and make new friends.
