After a long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve reactivated our volunteer program – the West Hill Action Mob (WHAM) – and offered not one, but two ways to make a visible difference in the Skyway-West Hill community during July 2021.
We celebrated Earth Day weekend in Skyway on Saturday, April 20th with some of the coolest neighbors toting litter grabbers, contractor bags and a croissant or two to pair with free double-shot espressos.
How is King County working to improve services for unincorporated area residents, and what does Skyway’s new health clinic have to offer? About forty neighbors (and many more online) joined us at Skyway VFW Post #9430 to find out answers to those questions and many more on Tuesday, January 15th at West Hill Community Association’s Winter Quarterly Community Meeting.
In 2018, your friends at the all-volunteer nonprofit West Hill Community Association had a banner year. From successfully partnering with teens to boost voter registration and turnout to leading community cleanups, neighborhood forums and highly anticipated events like our annual Skyway Outdoor Cinema festival and Halloween party, the year just flew by.
So we paused for just a bit to take a look back at some of the most wonderful, surprising, and memorable moments of last year (in absolutely no particular order). How many do you remember?
UPDATE: Thanks to your generous support, we raised over $1300 and unlocked all surprises for our Halloween Party at Skyway Park Bowl on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 6-9pm. Join the event on Facebook!

There’s no doubt Skyway Outdoor Cinema is a rainbow explosion of utter joy, diversity, friendship, & celebration. There aren’t quite enough words to accurately describe our incredible 16th season of this beloved annual festival, but we’ll do our very best to show you.
A few sprinkles of rain didn’t stop us from having a great time at King County Fire District 20’s Annual Health & Safety Fair and Alajawan’s Hands Backpack Giveaway on August 25th, 2018. Continue Reading
We captured some of the sights and sounds of August 18th, 2018’s Skyway Parade and Block Party on video for you – we had a blast meeting new neighbors, inviting folks to Skyway Outdoor Cinema, and connecting folks to valuable info supplied by King County Elections and Seattle Foundation as part of our Voter Education Fund efforts. On April 17th, 2018, litter and weedy, overgrown planting strips along Renton Avenue South in the Skyway Business District were absolutely no match for our fourteen brave volunteers – not even in the chilly, pouring rain. Continue Reading
We did it for Spring, we can sure as heck do it for Halloween.
