Brooks Village Greenspace Gathering – BIPOC families with infants, toddlers, and school-aged children

We want to hear from Skyway families and youth about how to use the community greenspace at Brooks Village! Brooks Village is a lush undeveloped 14.3-acre plot of land just north of Grocery Outlet in Skyway. On a section of the property, Skyway Coalition and the Homestead Community Land Trust are working to build up to 55 new homes that give first-time buyers the opportunity to own a home that is affordable to them and remains affordable to future owners.

Energize Workshop

Have you been looking for air conditioning and energy savings? Heat pumps offer a solution with many benefits. Sign up for the workshop to learn about heat pump technology and the Energize heat pump program.

This 90-minute workshop will be hosted in Skyway at the Holy Temple Evangelistic Center. Childcare will be provided beginning at 5:30 PM. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early to check in.

A virtual option will be available on Wednesday, November 15, 6:00 – 7:00 PM.

About Energize!
The King County Energize Heat Pump Program is an opportunity for community members in Skyway and White Center to install heat pumps, conserve energy, and reduce utility bills. Heat pumps provide highly efficient, all electric space heating and cooling and are a key element in the transition to a safe climate and healthy environment. The Energize program is hosted in partnership with Spark Northwest, a local non-profit organization that works to accelerate the shift to clean energy.

Skyway Affordable Housing & Early Learning Center Community Meeting (Virtual)

In partnership with the Skyway community, the Low Income Housing Institute and Childhaven are pleased to announce the Skyway Affordable Housing and Early Learning Center at 12712-12724 Renton Avenue South.

The housing includes 55 units of affordable housing for families and individuals making less than 30%-50% of the area median income. The Early Learning Center will include four classrooms and a large outdoor play area, and will serve about 80 preschool aged children.

Skyway-West Hill’s First Community Development Association (CDA)

In July 2021, the WHCA board voted unanimously to begin the process of becoming a Community Development Association (CDA). The process will be challenging, requiring our 100% volunteer-run organization to raise millions of dollars and hire our first-ever employees, but we are dedicated to finding new ways to meet our community’s needs and create neighborhoods that work for all.
