West Hill Community Association’s Summer Community Quarterly Meeting on July 21, 2026 was held at West Hill Community Center and featured a wide array of speakers sharing updates, resources, opportunities, and ways to get involved.

The event also featured a selection of food from Skyway’s Beach Comber Bar & Grill, reports from local organizations and government agencies, and lots of great questions and answers.

Here’s a summary of highlights from YouTube:

  • Community Events: WHCA is hosting a voter assistance booth (0:01:52), Skyway Outdoor Cinema (0:02:12), and the Restore Skyway Park volunteer day (0:02:54).
  • Community Center Updates: Representatives from King County Parks discussed the new Skyway Community Center project (0:06:52), including plans for building demolition in August.
  • Participatory Budgeting: The Department of Local Services announced the return of the participatory budgeting process, with $1.65 million available for community projects (0:25:34).
  • Safety & Support: The King County Sheriff’s Office (0:09:49) and Public Health Seattle-King County (0:43:41) shared resources regarding scam prevention, outreach, and local health programs.
  • Library Programs: The Skyway Library highlighted ongoing educational support, including tutoring, tech help, and specialized programming (0:38:39).
  • Feature Presentation: King County Fire District 20 Chief Eric Hicks discussed Proposition 1 for the upcoming November election, detailing the fire district’s capital needs, including facility and equipment upgrades (1:03:03).
  • Additional Resources: The meeting concluded with information on home repair funds (1:29:41) and community support networks.
