Skyway Virtual Cinema 2021

Skyway Outdoor Cinema Stays Virtual for 2021 (Mostly)

Nothing can replace the sheer joy of packing into a parking lot with y’all to gorge on food truck cuisine and 50¢ popcorn while watching a new release on a 20′ screen. We missed you last year when the pandemic forced us to rethink in-person events.

And while we do love Skyway Outdoor Cinema (SOC), we realize the pandemic still poses some difficult challenges for large gatherings. To keep folks safe while still keeping the SOC spirit alive, we’re continuing our Skyway VIRTUAL Cinema series all August. Hit the registration button to get access!

2021 Skyway Virtual Cinema Lineup

Friday, August 6: Sister Act (1992)

Friday, August 13: Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)

Friday, August 20: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)

Friday, August 27: Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)

NOTE: You must register in advance to get access to each movie! [REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED]

Free Cinema Pack Pick Up Days

You can’t truly enjoy a Skyway Outdoor Cinema movie without great treats and fun giveaways – why should Skyway VIRTUAL Cinema be any different?

Come say “hi” behind the 7-Eleven in the old U.S. Bank parking lot (yes, where we held Cinema in the beforetimes) and we’ll hook you up with a free bag every Thursday in August between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.!

Cinema Packs include microwave popcorn, assorted candy, plus some rotating fun stuff (you’ll just have to come by and find out!).

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: How does this virtual movies thing work?
A: Register in one minute using this quick form, and you’ll get a link to watch the movies with your computer or smartphone’s web browser (and the Passphrase to unlock each one!). Don’t miss out on reminders, be sure to follow us on social media and sign up for our newsletter. [REGISTRATION NOW CLOSED]

Q: Do I have to stream the scheduled movie right at 7 p.m.?
While we love the idea of all of us watching the same movie at the same time – we get that life happens and you might need to watch a little later or hit pause. That’s okay! We’ll have a 72-hour window starting on the day each one is scheduled to finish watching.

Q: Can I rent the parking lot space from you for my own event?
: In short – no, sorry. While we did paint the mural and long ago paid for external electrical outlets to power our gear, we don’t own the lot. We entered into a contract annually with U.S. Bank to use the space for an outdoor festival which also carries insurance requirements. Now that U.S. Bank is moving out of that space, the future is also a little uncertain.
