After taking a year off, we brought back Skyway Outdoor Cinema for a 2026 season that was bigger, better, and funner than ever before.

For three nights in August, community gathered at the Skyway fire station’s training yard for 90 minutes of nonstop fun followed by a blockbuster film under the stars.
Each night, we had bouncers and giant yard games, taco and ice cream trucks, concession stands, face painting, balloon twisting, and live entertainment. Each night’s movie was selected by the community, and they did a great job picking ’em.
Read on for a recap of each night, PLUS links to hundreds of photos from superstar photographer Caroline Walker Evans (you might just find yourself in one if you attended!).

August 7, 2026: “Inside Out 2”
We kicked off the 2026 season of Skyway Outdoor Cinema with the animated film “Inside Out 2”. Before the movie, folks of all ages got some expert double dutch lessons from the Double Dutch Divas, and we danced along with The Throwbacks dance crew.

August 14, 2026: “Hoppers”
Our second night kept the party jumping as we cheered along with the Renton High School Redhawks Cheer Team during their preshow performance, and then settled in to enjoy the popular animated movie, “Hoppers”.

August 21, 2026: “Wicked: For Good”
We closed out a stellar summer of movies and fun with “Wicked: For Good,” but first we made the most of the preshow fun with a performance from Daughters of Royalty Drill & Dance Ensemble and we turned the lot into a giant dance floor with Neon Brass Party.

We’re so grateful to everyone who came out and supported this community tradition that has been bringing neighbors together since 2003. As an all-volunteer group, your West Hill Community Association volunteers work many late nights and long hours to make magic happen in the community, and your help is incredibly appreciated.
We especially want to call out our sponsors: 4Culture, King County Parks, and Motiv Real Estate Group. King County Parks Skyway Rec Aides prepared hundreds of free movie-themed craft kits for folks to grab and go. King County Fire District 20 were phenomenal hosts, and provided extra muscle for set up and break down. Lakeridge Elementary School PTA (GO ORCAS!) managed the concession stand and helped raise funds for students.
Our vendors helped make the event come to life: Epic Events handled the AV, Bounce Around LLC brought the bouncers and games, Taqueria Taco Cortes kept us fed, B&B Ice Creams kept us cool, Hatter Mike along with Jeremy and Magic Rich twisted up all the neatest balloon creations, Fairydust Paint transformed guests into dinosaurs and unicorns, and Construction Site Services made sure we had the tidiest restrooms and handwash stations.
