When things are tough, it’s important we look out for each other. Here’s a list of resources to find food and support others in Skyway-West Hill and nearby. Please share with your networks, and let us know if you have updates or edits.

In Skyway-West Hill Neighborhoods

Skyway Community Food Bank

Holy Temple Evangelistic Center (12600 Renton Ave S, near Nevzat’s Espresso) has had a long-standing drive-thru food bank every Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. You can contact them at (206) 679-4635.

Puget Sound Food Distribution Network

The Jesus Center at Freedom Church of Seattle (7817 S 125th St.) hosts a weekly food distribution effort led by Pastor Herman Akins and Restoration House NW. Bring your own bags, Saturdays at 9 a.m. The Jesus Center also has many services and resources available, you can call (206) 906-9664.

ALA Garífuna Monthly Food Distribution

Third Thursday of each month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at ALA Garifuna’s office (7418 126 St. Suite 1B, Seattle WA 98178).

“ALA’s Monthly Food Distribution program is dedicated to supporting Garífuna families and community members by providing consistent access to nutritious meals and essential groceries. This program not only helps reduce food insecurity but also strengthens community connections, bringing neighbors together in a welcoming environment. Each distribution is carefully organized with respect for the dignity and needs of every participant. In addition to providing food, our team offers information about other community resources and services, ensuring that families have the support they need to thrive. Through this initiative, we foster both nourishment and unity within the Garífuna community.”

Free Meal Fridays at Salima Specialties

Chef Salima is offering free hot meals each Friday in November. See their website for details and the full menu.

Help support: If you’re dining in, let them know you’d like to donate to Free Meal Fridays. If you’re ordering online, look for the donation option. You can also donate on their website.

Women United Turkey Giveaway

Register online by November 20 to reserve a free turkey to pick up on Saturday, November 22 between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Skyway Resource Center parking lot (12610 76th Ave S).

Alajawan’s Community Family Table

Enjoy a free Thanksgiving meal, play games, and meet your neighbors at this annual event hosted by Alajawan’s Hands on Thursday, November 27, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Talley High School. Volunteers always welcome! Contact Ayanna: [email protected] or (425) 208-6236.

Free Food at Colored Girls Garden Club Sharehouse

The Colored Girls Garden Club is a nonprofit run by Ms Yvette Dinish which hosts free food days every Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m. and every Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. at 9254 57th Ave. S. (next to Jude’s). If you would like to support its work, contact the Club over Facebook for donation information.

“The Table” Free Community Meal at Luther’s Table

Luther’s Table (419 S 2nd St, #1, Renton, WA 98057), in partnership with Sustainable Renton and REACH Renton, has launched “The Table”, a free community meal open to all every Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m.

Volunteers are needed for a number of roles supporting this event. Sign up online if you’d like to volunteer!

Rainier Valley Food Bank
