Gusty Conditions Couldn’t Stop Skyway’s 2025 Halloween Takeover

Despite 40-mph gusts and sideways rain, nearly 1,000 costumed characters descended on downtown Skyway for West Hill Community Association’s Halloween Takeover on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Starting at the King County Fire District 20 training yard, guests received a map and a treat bag. For the first hour, had their pick of inflatable fun with a 40′ pirate ship obstacle course, bouncy castle, ball pit, and giant games like axe throwing courtesy of Simone and team at Bounce Around LLC before it was all deflated for safety.

There was still plenty of fun at the block party, including DJ Clear, Neon Brass Party, free elotes and aguas frescas from Carlos and Maribel at Crazy Corn, balloon twisting with Hatter Mike and Jeremy (next to Rose the Hearse), and a Treat Trail that included a mix of community members and organizations hosting trunks and tables full of decor and candy.

Shout out to Urban Family for taking home this year’s Treat Trail Trophy for best in show!

Across the street, firefighters hosted a Haunted Am-BOO-Lance with candy, tours, and Sparky the Fire Dog!

Nextdoor, we turned Skyway Library into a place to unlock your creativity with a professionally staffed photo booth hosted by Aaron Benson of BenVisual. You can check out all 124 snaps right here!

In total, 633 guests dropped by the library to join Gabby with Seattle Paint Party to add color and glitter to our custom coloring pages, and take part in one of the 500 craft kit opportunities provided by our talented friends at King County Parks’ White Center Teen Program.

Heading across the street, folks packed into Beach Comber Sports Bar and Grill for free sliders, fries, corn dogs, and “Beach Comber Brew” punch.

In the back, we had WHCA board member Malika Ritchie on the (tarot) decks giving back-to-back readings with big feels, heartwarming moments, and lots of hugs.

A few doors down, our friends at My’s Vietnamese Sandwiches and Deli decorated their storefront and hosted a free candy stop! Their Halloween spirit was on full display.

At Skyway VFW Post #9430, their annual Kids Halloween Party was hopping! From the monster cake walk to the costume contest and cookie decorating, lots of fun was had.

For the bravest among us, one of the can’t-miss stops on the map was The Tool Doctor’s epic haunted house. Bigger, better, scarier than before – more actors, more props, more jump scares.

Their dedication to providing such an incredible experience for Skyway earned them a trophy!
