Skyway Park Volunteer Work Party

Sat, November 14 @ 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Come join King County Parks and West Hill Community Association for a day stewarding and restoring Skyway Park.

Description

Join us in restoring the health of Skyway Park. This is a special planting event with a planting plan designed by Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) interns.

Skyway Park is located in the West Hill community, an unincorporated urban area on Lake Washington. In the park are three wetlands that function as the headwaters of Taylor Creek, a salmon-bearing stream that passes through Seattle’s Deadhorse Canyon and enters Lake Washington.

Several community organizations are working together to make Skyway Park a great place for people and animals.

IMPORTANT: Any minors (people under the age of 18) attending the event without their parent or legal guardian must bring a signed Youth Waiver to the event and give to staff before event in order to participate. Download the Youth Waiver form here: https://kingcounty.gov/parksyouthwaiverform.

Year-round projects often include removal of monoculture forming and introduced plant species that can reduce plant diversity, spreading woodchip mulch, weeding previously planted sites, and other park improvement projects (e.g., litter removal). Seasonally (October through February), tree and shrub planting may also occur.

The site address takes you to a house near the park entrance. Turn north into Skyway Park where S 120th Pl turns into 71st Ave S. Continue down the park drive to the meetup location which near the covered picnic shelter.
